TEXAS MEDICAL BOARD PHYSICIAN IN TRAINING (PIT) PERMIT

Application fee reimbursed

ANNUAL CME ALLOWANCE

$500 for each resident

MEMBERSHIPS

Emergency Medicine Resident Association (EMRA) and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM)

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

Rosh review and PEER IX question banks provided. Incoming residents are also given an Apple iPad to use for FOAM resources.

UTHSCSA LIBRARY

Extensive journal and textbook access through the library, as well as access to UpToDate and Lexicomp

YEARLY CONFERENCE

Funded conference, travel, lodging, and per diem. TCEP (PGY-1), SAEM (PGY-2), ACEP (PGY-3). Individuals presenting at national conferences will also be fully funded.

Free parking immediately adjacent the hospital all 3 years

UNIFORMS

3 sets of custom embroidered scrubs provided at no cost to residents every year of residency and an embroidered white coat.
White lab coats and laundering are provided at no cost to residents.

Paid travel and time for global health trips

VACATION

15 days of paid leave per year

SICK LEAVE

Full salary is paid for 10 days per year for injury or illness

MATERNITY AND PATERNITY LEAVE

Although not a separate leave category, the new mother may use a combination of sick leave, vacation time and disability leave to cover six weeks of post-partum leave. Fathers may use a combination of paternity leave and annual leave to help care for his new family.
